Ray Stedman, who was the long-time Pastor of Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto, California, was also a very gifted communicator. In his book titled Authentic Christianity, he relates a story about a young man who was subjected to the mockery of his friends when he became a Christian...
"Do you believe in all those miracles of the New Testament?" they asked him. "Yes, I do," he replied. "Do you believe that one about Jesus changing water into wine?" they demanded. "Yes, I believe that," he said. "How could he do that?" they asked. The young man responded, "I don't know how, but I believe it, because at our house he changed beer into furniture!"
There is little doubt that each and every one of us could benefit by seeing God miraculously transform one or more things in our lives. What is more, the dawning of a new year might well be the perfect time for some honest self-reflection about just what all we might need to entrust anew to God’s wisdom and power.
The result of such an endeavor could prove quite a blessing, not only for us as individuals, but for all those we know and love as well.
