All pastors have their favorite Bible verses. Here are a few of mine.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:16-17 NIV
"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10 NIV
"And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men." Luke 2:52 NIV
'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Luke 10:27 NIV
"Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:7-8 NIV
"Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NIV
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile." Romans 1:16 NIV
"And for this purpose I was appointed... a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles." I Timothy 2:7 NIV
"He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen." Revelation 22:20-21 NIV
Lastly, I will always be thankful for the influence of a man known as Charlie Brown. Not the cartoon character, but a real person. He was not a pastor, but a layman. This otherwise meek, unassuming man was one of the greatest Bible teachers I have ever known. He was also the first person to teach me how to share my faith. His chosen method was what is known as "The Roman Road" to salvation. I share it here in the hopes that its simplicity will help someone else in their attempt to be a better witness for Jesus Christ. Here is the essence of the good news...
"As it is written: 'There is no one righteous, not even one…'" Romans 3:10 NIV
"…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…" Romans 3:23 NIV
"…the wages of sin is death…" Romans 6:23a NIV
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 NIV
"...but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23b NIV
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13 NIV
"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-10 NIV
"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10 NIV
